'Coronation Street' actress Brooke Vincent has been told she makes a "good lesbian".
The 18-year-old star - who plays troubled teen Sophie Webster in the ITV1 soap - explained she and co-star Sacha Parkinson (Sian Powers) are pleased to be giving a realistic portrayal of young girls struggling with their sexuality.
She explained: "I've been told I'm a good lesbian! A woman stopped me at the traffic lights the other day to say that, so I felt really proud.
"The thing me and Sacha wanted to do most with this plot was to make it realistic, so we can portray a story about two girls who are in love. We've had some great feedback, which is really flattering."
Brooke also said she "feels fantastic" when she hears the duo's hard-hitting storyline is helping young female viewers to accept their own sexuality.
She added to Inside Soap magazine: "When I hear this storyline has helped a young girl to come out to her parents, it feels fantastic.
"I get a lot of messages from female viewers, which makes what we do feel worthwhile."
