NFL Scores Week 14: New England Patriots Avoid Upset Bid from Seattle Seahawks, Playoff Hopes Still Alive

Matt Cassel threw for 268 yards and a touchdown, Wes Welker had 138 yards receiving and Sammy Morris scored the game-winning touchdown late in the fourth quarter to give the New England Patriots (8-5) a 24-21 come-from-behind win over the Seattle Seahawks (2-11) on Sunday to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Seneca Wallace hooked up with Deion Branch on a 14-yard touchdown pass to give the Seahawks a 7-0 lead but the Patriots closed the quarter with a 50-yard field goal from Stephen Gostkowski to climb to within 7-3.

Wallace answered the Patriots score with a second touchdown drive as he hit John Carlson on a 10-yard toss to push the Seahawks advantage to 14-3. Cassel countered with a touchdown drive of his own when he found Benjamin Watson on a 2-yard dump pass and the 14-10 score stood through the half.

Gostkowski brought the Patriots within one after hitting a 42-yard field goal late in the third but Wallace once again stood tall and cushioned the Seahawks lead 21-13 when he found Branch on a 4-yard toss and the Seahawks carried the lead into the final frame.

The Patriots once again turned to Gostkowski whose 27-yard field goal early in the fourth cut their deficit to 21-16 and Sammy Morris gave New England their first lead with just under three minutes when he scored from a yard out. Cassel then hit Welker for the two-point conversion and the Patriots defense held the Seahawks to preserve the win.
