BCS College Football Bowl Game Schedules: #1 Oklahoma Sooners to Meet #2 Florida Gators for BCS National Championship
The #1 Oklahoma Sooners (12-1), fresh off their win in the Big 12 championship game, will face the #2 Florida Gators (12-1) in the Jan. 8 BCS national championship game in Miami. Oklahoma jumped past the Texas Longhorns, the only team they lost to this year, and will face a Gators squad that just knocked off then #1 Alabama in the SEC championship game.
While the Sooners got the ticket to the BCS national championship game the #3 Longhorns (11-1) will be playing in the Jan. 5 Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona. Texas will be facing the #10 Ohio State Buckeyes (10-2) who snuck past higher ranked teams Texas Tech and Boise State.
After putting together a perfect 12-0 season the #6 Utah Utes will have their work cut out for them when they face the #4 Alabama Crimson Tide (11-1) in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 2. Utah will be playing in their second BCS bowl game, their first coming in 2004 while the Tide had national championship aspirations and will look to punish the Utes in New Orleans.
As Big East champions the Cincinnati Bearcats (11-2) were guaranteed a BCS bowl game and they will be facing ACC champion Virginia Tech (9-4) in the Jan. 1 Orange Bowl. The Hokies earned a trip to the Orange Bowl last year after capturing the ACC title while Cincinnati will be appearing in their first BCS bowl game.
The Grand Daddy of them All, The Rose Bowl will be featuring the #5 USC Trojans (11-1) and the #8 Penn State Nittany Lions (11-1). The Pac-10 champion Trojans will be playing in their 33rd Rose Bowl while the Nittany Lions, winners of the Big Ten, will be looking to cap a nearly perfect season.
Despite posting a perfect mark of 12-0 the Boise State Broncos did not receive a BCS bowl invitation nor did the Texas Tech Red Raiders (11-1) who featured one of the most dominant offenses in college football this year.
