James Brown's Great British Hairdresser

James Brown was inspired to do 'Great British Hairdresser' because he knew there was so much undiscovered talent in the country.

The celebrity crimper - who has worked with the likes of Kate Moss, Lily Allen, Anne Hathaway and Sienna Miller - is hosting the E4 show, which is bidding to find the next big hair stylist, and James thought it was the perfect opportunity to unearth the hair world's newest star.

Speaking about his inspiration to do the show, James - who appears alongside WAG Abbey Clancy and Glamour magazine editor Jo Elvin - exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "During London Fashion Week there'd be so many talented hairdressers and they'd come from all over the country. And then after fashion week they'd just disappear and I'd be asking my agents where they'd gone and they'd be like, 'Oh she's gone back to Nottingham.'

"And I just thought there's so much talent who are interested in getting into the industry and I wanted to help them, so that's how this show came about. The English are the best hairdressers in the world, we really are, and it's such a good industry for us so I just thought I'm going to find the next person to become Britain's greatest hairdresser."

However, James insisted he would only put through contestants based on their ability rather than how good they were on TV.

He said: "No way would I put someone through just because they made good TV. At the end of the day, if I don't pick someone good and I send them off to do someone like Jennifer Lopez's hair and they're rubbish, it will come back to me and I'll look like an a**ehole.

"So absolutely not, I wouldn't have done the show if that had been the criteria if I had to substitute someone who has good in favour of a contestant that made great TV."

'Great British Hairdresser' airs on E4 on Mondays at 10pm.
