Paula Abdul Makes Frantic Call to Police

by Daun Lee

On Valentine’s Day the former American Idol judge Paula Abdul made a frantic call to police.  Unlike most people the annual day of love seemed more like a day of drama for Abdul. According to celeb gossip site TMZ, Paula rang the police crying hysterically and asking to be dropped off, after heated argument with her boyfriend. Her publicist won’t reveal details of the argument but stated that the issue was resolved. The actress wasn’t harmed in anyway, luckily but that isn’t the case for many women.

Domestic violence is an all too common problem for women and men. The prevailing stereotype is that women are the only victims of domestic violence but men are likely to be abused by a spouse. Abuse in relationship can be physical, verbal and even sexual. People involved in abusive relationships are advised by experts and divorce lawyers to get out of the situation. Typically the violence in a harmful relationship on escalates and in the worst case results in severe injury or death. In divorce court abusive marriages are generally uncontested.

Whether a relationship must end because of violence or simple failure the assistance of a divorce attorney is necessary. A marriage that must end entails the reconciliation of assets and custody of children. The expertise of a divorce lawyer can assure those involved in divorce proceedings a fair settlement to their dispute. There is enough pain involved in a divorce without the feeling of unjust decision in a court proceeding.
