The United States Embassy in Spain has confirmed an American college student disappeared in Madrid over the weekend. Austin Taylor Bice, 22, has not been seen since Saturday night when he went out with 5 friends. Bice was denied entry to La Riviera nightclub because he was drunk and told his friends he would walk home alone. He has not been seen since.
Bice’s father, Larry Bice, flew in to Madrid Wednesday. He has meet with Spanish authorities and U.S. Consulate officials. As authorities continue searching for Bice, so do his friends. They have posted missing person posters featuring Bice’s photo and information throughout Madrid. "It's been real hard. These are the things you hope never happen to you,” Larry Bice told CNN.
Bice is a student at San Diego State University. He was studying business at Madrid’s University of Carlos III as part of an exchange program. “We’re staying in close contact with the host university, the family and the State Department. We obviously are very concerned,” said San Diego State University spokeswoman Gina Jacobs.
