President-elect Barack Obama Vows to Refrain from Smoking in White House

In an interview with NBC’s Tom Brokaw on Sunday President-elect Barack Obama admitted to falling back on his word to quit smoking, confessing that he has snuck a few cigarettes in during his campaign for the presidential office.

Brokaw seemingly caught Obama off guard when he asked if he had quit smoking. The father of two said he had but then acknowledged he had “fallen off the wagon” at times. Brokaw followed that by declaring “that means you haven’t stopped” to which Obama said “I've done a terrific job, under the circumstances.”

Obama has said he would not violate the White House no-smoking policy.
