Portable CATV Cable Fault Locator

GAO Tek Inc. has launched its portable CATV cable fault locator intended to locate such cable faults as short circuits, open circuits and high resistance joints and to indicate the exact distance of the fault. This rugged fault locator is widely used in testing underground cables to discover impedance break points in HFC systems and locate and reveal cable damage, tie-in dampness and terminal impedance failure.

This powerful cable fault locator, model 6130, utilizes Time Domain Reflection (TDR) technology and has a double cursor display to analyze test results. It tests cables of 25, 50, 75 and 100 ohms impedance within a long measurement range of 15 to 2000 m. This cable fault locator also provides an intuitive electronic map relevant to the time domain picture allowing the fault to be detected easily. In addition, it can be connected to a computer for file upload and data analysis.
