Heat Fall to Bulls as Struggles Continue
Loss allows Bulls to take second place in the East
The Miami Heat can not finish close games. For the season, with less than 10 seconds left and down by no more than three, they Heat have shot 1-18 collectively. Oftentimes Lebron James' number gets called, and he has the only conversion on the team. Dwyane Wade has not been able to finish, and neither has Chris Bosh. This stat came to haunt the Heat again Sunday as they lost to the Bulls in a game that went down to the wire, 87-86.
The Heat lost their double digit lead to go down by six with 3:30 left in the game. With a little over a minute left the Heat tied the game at 86 before taking the lead with 25 seconds left on a Mario Chalmers layup. Luol Deng went to the free throw line, made his first shot and got fouled attempting to rebound the second shot. He made the next two free throws to go up by one.
Lebron James got the ball to take the last shot and missed a layup from the left side as Joakim Noah guarded him. The rebound made its way out to Wade as time was expiring and he missed a last second shot from the baseline.
Miami's Big 3 all scored at least 20 Sunday. James had 26, Bosh had 23 and Wade scored 20. They couldn't compete with the Bulls defensive intensity though, and had 16 turnovers while being out rebounded.
For Chicago, Derrick Rose scored 27 points to lead all scorers, Carlos Boozer added 12 to go along with his 10 rebounds, and Noah helped with 11 points. This win puts the Bulls in second place, ahead of the Heat, in the Eastern Conference Standings.
