Joan Collins hints at Dynasty return

Joan Collins has hinted she will be starring in 'Dynasty' when it returns.

The 77-year-old actress - who played the scheming Alexis Carrington in the hit 80s TV series - claims she will be returning to the story about a wealthy oil family in Denver, but is remaining tight-lipped on what her involvement will be.

When asked whether 'Dynasty' was coming back during an appearance with her sister Jackie on CNN's 'Piers Morgan Tonight', she said: "That's what I hear (it's coming back). It could be. But I'm not allowed (to say) - I'm not allowed, I'm not allowed. My lips are sealed. My lips are sealed with a 'Dynasty' doll."

Piers then pushed Joan on whether she would be involved, prompting her to reply: "Well, I wouldn't be talking about it if I wasn't. But I mean, if it's going to come back. But if it's going to come back, it will come back in a different form, you know, like an amoeba. It wouldn't necessarily come back as it left off. I don't know. You'll have to talk to Esther."

In January, 'Dynasty' creators Richard and Esther Shapiro announced they had created a script for a prequel movie set in the 1960s.

In a statement, Esther said: "The time is right. Nostalgia has always been big, but we want to take it a step further. We want to go back to the beginning with these characters and use the film to trace their roots. It will give us the opportunity to start fresh, without the constraints that television placed on our characters in the series."

The original series ran for nine seasons from January 1981 until to May 1989 and won a host of awards.

As well as Joan it starred John Forsythe as her oil tycoon ex-husband Blake Carrington and Linda Evans as his wife Krystle Carrington.
