Princess Anne asked Mike Tindall to have a nose job

Britain's Princess Anne has asked her daughter's fiance to have a nose job before their wedding.

Rugby player Mike Tindall - who will marry Zara Phillips in July - has revealed his future mother-in-law is so concerned about his nose, which he has broken eight times - she would like him to have corrective surgery to improve his appearance before the big day.

He admitted: "Princess Anne asked me if I'd have the surgery. She's a bit worried about how the wedding photos might turn out!"

However, the 32-year-old athlete says he won't give in to the princess' wishes, as a previous experience with surgery has put him off ever having it again.

He explained on Sky 1 sports quiz 'A League Of Their Own': "The last time I had surgery I had two metal plates inserted up my nose to keep it straight. The very next game I was playing for Gloucester against Northampton and one of their players put in a high tackle.

"He pressed his thumbs onto my nose and... crunch! The metal plates popped out onto the pitch. I'm not keen to do it again."

Mike's crooked nose is so famous on the pitch it even has its own page on social networking website Facebook, on which one fan joked: "Michael, Michael, Michael... how do you breathe?"
