Demi Lovato, who finished her prescribed treatment for personal issues in late January, has released a video in which she thanks her fans for supporting her during "probably the darkest time of her life."
"Your support is what got me through this," said the 18-year-old Disney star. "The journey has been very, very difficult the past few months. I was dealing with issues that I know not only girls just my age but of all ages are dealing with."
"I hope to one day raise awareness of everything so I can help people too just like you helped me at this rough time," said Lovato. "I can't tell you how much light you guys brought into my life at probably the darkest time of my life. Without you guys, I wouldn't be here today...I couldn't have done this without you."
Lovato first sought professional last year, after having quit the Jonas Brothers tour in October. Lovato has not explicitly said what issues she was seeking help for, but according to a report from E! Online, "she's dropped few hints in recent months. She recounted her experiences as being picked on in school on the PACER's Teens Against Bullying site. And sources close to Lovato also told E! News that the actress-singer suffered from bulimia and self-image problems as well."
In the video, Lovato says that she is "excited to get back to work," but she does not mention anything specific about her Disney show or her singing career.
