Unilever Recalls Skippy Peanut Butter

by Daun Lee

Some jars of the popular Skippy Peanut butter are being recalled for possible contamination of salmonella. There are sixteen states involved in the recall. Representatives of Unilever are telling their customers to dispose of the jars and they will issue a coupon for replacement. A consumer can call 1-800-453-3432 for more information. Though no one has become ill yet, Unilever is attempting to avoid an outbreak of salmonella by recalling the contaminated jars. They presence of salmonella was discovered in a random sampling.

Salmonella s a bacteria which can causes food-poisoning. Salmonella is seriously injurious to children and the elderly who may have weaker immune systems. For most it can just make a person ill but can lead to dehydration from the vomiting but in some cases death can occur. There often incidences where a product can cause injury or illness to the consumer and when this happens an accident lawyer can help a person gain compensation for their pain.

While Unilever discovered the contamination before an outbreak occurred many other companies and consumers aren’t so lucky. In the past other contaminations have led to grave illness and fatalities. An accident lawyer can assist a person with recouping losses when products have harmed a consumer due to the negligence of the manufacturers. E Coli and Salmonella can often be present in foods people eat but the companies who sell these tainted products will be held accountable by accident attorneys and the injured parties so an outbreak can be contained.
