Scott J. Menaul Delivers on Interior Designers’ Demands

Scott J. Menaul (http://www.menaul-art.com), abstract artist and owner of Menaul Fine Art Gallery, recently polled interior designers to find the top difficulties they face when looking for artwork to be placed in residential and commercial locations.   Results revealed their top difficulties are finding the exact colors needed to match decor with the dimensions they require. Many are also looking for bold colors.  Menaul easily delivers on these demands with his fresh, visionary art that brings life to a room.

It is every design firm's goal to identify and creatively solve problems and to create an environment that is both beautiful and functional for the client," explains Jeanne Bemis, President of JMB Designs LLC in Seattle, Washington, and a member of the American Society of Interior Designers. "Accomplishing this includes every aspect of the interior environment - furnishings, floor coverings, window treatments, accessories and art - and it all has to work together. Modern abstracts are a good fit," Bemis added.

With 25 years as a commercial photographer and graphic designer, and an additional 12 years working with his medium, Scott J. Menaul is able to easily and innovatively fill all of the interior designer’s exacting demands with fresh and uplifting abstract limited edition giclée canvases and paper giclées. Menaul’s abstract art incorporates elements in the room helping to tie the décor together.

“I love color, patterns and forms that when combined together, take on a life of their own. The artwork communicates to others and appears to touch them in a deep, personal and spiritual way,” says Scott J. Menaul.

“ And, one of the benefits of working digitally is the ability to change the color palette, canvas size and proportions, at will to match the décor," says Scott J. Menaul. "A designer, or art buyer, can select color swatches, color system numbers, print sizes and different proportions to customize the artwork more exactly to fit their client's needs.   The canvas giclées are very rich, colorful and almost indistinguishable from oil paintings, except that the crisp detail and subtle graduations of color exceed what is otherwise possible.”

"We are seeing bold-color, modern abstract art becoming increasingly popular with our clients," says Judy Kirsch, President of Designs by Judy, an interior design firm located in Chicago. "Neutral colors have been prevalent, and our clients are looking for paintings with more of a color zing. Modernistic abstract art with bold colors is definitely in demand."

"It is important to our clients that the abstract pick up colors or shapes in the room, or even of the exterior environment," continues Kirsch.  "This is not always an easy task to pull off with an abstract design. On a recent decorating project with a high-rise condominium in Chicago, the modern abstract art we selected, created by Scott, J. Menaul, almost represented Millennium Park and some of the other structures in the Chicago area that could be seen from outside of our client's window. The art also brought out a little bit of turquoise, which went with the water on the lake and a bit of orange reflecting the tangerine pillows in the room. This modernistic abstract just pulled the entire room together."

An added bonus Menaul can provide interior designers is a digital representation of what the artwork will look like in a room when it is hung. “I liked that the digitally produced painting samples [Menaul provided] let us see what the abstract was going to look like,” concludes Bemis.
