Strikers in Greece Take to Streets of Athens in Protest of Economic Policies

A strike in the Greek capital of Athens attracted several hundred protesters upset with economic policies of the current government.

The strike was organized by Greece’s two main unions, the Greek General Confederation of Workers and the Civil Servants Supreme Administrative Council, both have called for increased social spending as well as increases in wages and pensions.

While the strike caused flights in and out of Athens to be cancelled and public transportation was slowed the number of protesters was far fewer than expected.
