Ghana’s Presidential Election to be Decided in Second-Round

Ghana’s electoral commission has announced that the presidential election will move to a second-round after neither of the two main candidates, Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party and John Atta Mills of the National Democratic Congress, reached a 50 percent share of Sunday’s vote.

Both men are looking to take office in January when current President John Kufuor of the New Patriotic Party steps down following his two-terms.

There has been no date set for the second-round vote but it is believed it will take place on Dec. 28.
