Millions of Dollars Worth of Stolen Jewelry Recovered in Paris

Authorities in France confirm they recovered $25 million worth of stolen Harry Winston jewelry from a rain sewer in Paris. The jewelry, which included three pairs of earrings and 19 rings, is a part of a 2008 heist in which 4 robbers got away with nearly $111 million of goods from the Harry Winston store in Champs Elysees.

The robbery, which took less than 15 minutes, was carried out on December 4 in broad daylight. Two of the men were disguised as women.

In June 2009, 25 people were arrested in connection with the heist, but only 9 were charged. At the time, police said about half of the stolen goods had been found.

Authorities have not released details on what led them to the latest discovery. The jewelry was stored in a plastic container, cased in cement and hidden in a rain sewer at a house in the Paris suburb of Seine-Saint-Denis.
