Miami Heat president and former Heat coach Pat Riley recently dismissed rumors that current Heat coach Erik Spoelstra might get fired.
"Write it off. Write it off. It's the media being neurotic," said Riley while at the men's Big East tournament in New York.
"It's [the media's] need to make a story, create a story, and make that story come true. And that ain't going to happen. Write it off. We're just in a tough time right now, we'll get through it."
There has been distress among Heat fans lately because the Heat have lost their last five games. They recently dropped from #2 in the East to #3, after losing to the Chicago Bulls. After that game, Spoelstra said that he saw some Heat players crying in the locker room, although he later suggested that the media took his words out of context. Furthmore, Heat forward Chris Bosh has some expressed some concerns about his role on the team; basically, he would like to receive the ball more often than he does. But despite all of these concerns, Riley says that the team is just going through a tough time but nothing more.
"We're going through some tough times and we will get through it," Riley said. "It's like anything else, like I always say, the playoffs will tell.
"Everything else now is just rhetoric. And we're getting ready for that time. And I don't really care what position we play from."
