Jewish wedding present for Prince William and Kate

Britain's Prince William and future-wife Kate Middleton will receive a Jewish style marriage contract as a wedding present.

British-born Israeli designer Michael Horton is creating the gift - named a Ketubah - inscribed with a non-religious script in both Hebrew and English.

It reads: "May we remain committed to each other's physical and mental well-being, and to each other's emotional and spiritual growth."

The gift was presented to Matthew Gould, Britain's Ambassador to Israel, at a special ceremony earlier this week, and he promised he would deliver the present which he praised as "an extremely appropriate and lovely gift".

Plans are well underway for the ceremony on April 29, with hundreds of thousands of people expected in London for the event.

After the wedding, the pair will enjoy a party at Buckingham Palace where it is expected they will dance to music including Abba.

A source said: "It'll be a wedding disco like those enjoyed by millions of other happy families and friends up and down the country. William and Kate are astutely aware their every move during the wedding will be under scrutiny around the world.

"That is why they want a fantastic after-party so they can relax just like any other happy couple. They will be driven from the banquet to St James's Palace where Kate will change out of her wedding dress and William will swap his uniform for something much less formal."
