Pakistan has placed the founder of Laskar-e-Taiba, an Islamic militant group suspected of orchestrating the Mumbai attacks, under house arrest.
While Cleric Hafiz Mohammad Saeed has denied any involvement in the Mumbai attacks and said Laskar-e-Taiba does not train terrorists he was quickly pinned as the mastermind behind the events that began on Nov. 26. Those attacks stretched over three days and killed more than 170 people and left several hundred injured.
Pakistan also closed a charity operated by Saeed, Jamaat-ud-Dawa, an orgaization that has been blacklisted by the United Nations.
Saeed, who stepped down from the leadership position of Laskar-e-Taiba in 2001, will be under house arrest for three months but it is not clear if he will be charged with any crimes. India has blamed Saeed for the deadly attacks and has pressured Pakistan to do more to combat terrorism.
