Michelle Keegan upset over Craig's exit

Michelle Keegan is sorry Craig Gazey is leaving 'Coronation Street'because she thinks their characters make a great couple.

The actress - who plays bombshell Tina McIntyre in the ITV1 soap - revealed she was upset when she heard that Craig has bowed out of his role as eccentric former jailbird Graeme Proctor and thinks he will leave a deep "void" after he leaves.

In a webchat on 'Coronation Street's official website, she said: "I'm really going to miss Graeme when he leaves. Him and Tina work really well together - there will definitely be a void in the cast."

"I love him and Tina together - I think they make a great couple."

Craig will leave his current role in May, with his last scenes due to be aired in July and has previously revealed he misses working in live theatre.

He said: "When I first joined the cast I had no idea just how much I would enjoy being part of such an amazing team. But I became an actor for the diversity of work and the opportunity to play different roles; I also really miss working in theatre.

"I feel this is the right time for me to leave after two and a half fantastic years playing a unique and brilliantly written character. I don't know what the future holds but I hope I will be given the opportunity to show my versatility as an actor and work on different projects."
