Police Seek Search Warrant for Caylee Anthony Grandparents Home After Body Found

Orange County police are seeking to obtain a warrant to search the home of George and Cindy Anthony, the grandparents of missing toddler Caylee Anthony. The possible warrant comes hours after the body of a small child was found about a half a mile from the Anthony’s home. Authorities say there is no indication that the body is that of Caylee, who has been missing since June.

The remains were found around 9 a.m. Thursday by a utility worker. The worker picked up a plastic bag at the site and a skull fell out. He immediately called authorities. The child’s body has been taken to a medical examiner’s office where it will be identified.

Sheriff Kein Beary says the Anthony’s home has been secured “pending more investigation” as it has the “possibility of being more of a crime scene later.”

Caylee, 3, disappeared in June. Her mother Casey Anthony waited a month to report the 3-year-old missing. Casey, 22, was charged with first-degree murder last month. Cadaver dogs have picked up the scent of death in Anthony’s car and in her parent’s back yard. Air quality tests found evidence of human decomposition and chloroform in the trunk of the vehicle.
