James Thornton and Charlie Baker crowned Let's Dance winners

James Thornton and Charlie Baker have won 'Let's Dance For Comic Relief'.

The 'Emmerdale' actor and the comedian were the shock winners of the charity talent show last night (12.03.11), beating off competition from the likes of Katie Price, Noel Fielding and bookies favourite Russell Kane to take the trophy for their tap dancing routine to Fred Astaire classic 'Puttin' On The Ritz'.

After their routine, they were praised by show judge Louie Spence, who said: "Not only they not 'tap-synching', they were knocking out clean beats. You had great fluidity and your rhythms were great."

Russell's Beyonce Knowles routine to her classic track 'Crazy in Love' had been expected to win, but he was narrowly beaten into second place in a public vote.

Despite failing to win, he was still awarded positive comments by the judges, who admitted they would have voted for him.

Last year's winner Rufus Hound told him: "It was amazing, I loved every moment of it and if I had my phone I'd be ringing it."

Also appearing the final were former glamour model Katie, who scored laughs for her portrayal of Freddie Mercury from Queen's iconic video 'I Want To Break Free', 'Mighty Boosh' star Noel, whose dance to Kate Bush's 'Wuthering Heights' ended with him being carried away by his comedy partner Julian Barrett, who dressed as Heathcliff, and an 80s supergroup - Limahl, Toyah Wilcox, Clare Grogan, and Chesney Hawkes - performing 'Greased Lightnin' from the film 'Grease!'.

In addition, comedian Adrian Edmonson donned a white tutu and feathery head dress to perform the 'Dying Swan' from ballet 'Swan Lake' - and ended the routine by 'dying' thanks to his former comedy partner Rik Mayall dropping a one tonne weight on him,

The show - which was hosted by Steve Jones and Alex Jones - also featured live performances from Plan B and Nicole Scherzinger.

The programme has already raised £1 million for Comic Relief this year.
