Laura Hamilton to front The Xtra Factor?

Laura Hamilton is in the running to present 'The Xtra Factor'.

The 'Dancing On Ice' star has quit her job as a children's TV presenter on Nickelodeon and is now being lined up to take over from Konnie Huq on the ITV2 spin-off show, after reportedly impressing 'X Factor' boss Simon Cowell.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Simon Cowell is very interested in having a look at Laura. She is all the attributes to be a big star."

Laura - who recently signed up to be represented by notorious PR guru Max Clifford - is said to be "thrilled" at the news.

Former 'Blue Peter' presenter Konnie is reportedly set to be sacked from the show after failing to impress viewers with her gaffe-prone presenting skills, although she is still hoping to win the coveted role for a second year in a row.

She said: "Hopefully I'll be back but I can't say 100 per cent."

However, Laura still faces stiff competition from fellow 'DOI' contestant Jeff Brazier, as he has already said he has his eyes on the job.

The 31-year-old TV host - who was voted off the ITV1 show last night (13.03.11) - has said: "Simon Cowell first used me in 'The X Factor' final and for me I would say that is the perfect job, as I feel I'm best used when I'm mixing with people and getting the best out of the contestants.

"I am kind of at the stage where I want to take on big responsibilities. It is getting close to the period where they start making decisions, I am guessing. I am certainly making the most of my opportunity on 'Dancing On Ice' and the rest is up to Simon Cowell to see who he thinks will be the best person for the job."
