The Philadelphia Phillies appear set on parting ways with Pat Burrell after they signed Raul Ibanez to take the leftfield spot in a three-year deal worth a reported $30 million.
After spending five years in a Seattle Mariners uniform Ibanez made it clear that he wanted to sign with a team that gave him a good shot at winning. The 36-year-old outfielder has been a model of consistency over the past three years, driving in over 100 runs in each of those seasons hitting no fewer than 21 homeruns and batting no lower than .289.
Ibanez is a comparable substitute for Burrell who made $14.25 million last year and would have likely cost the Phillies a considerable amount more to remain.
