SuperCamp Donates to Rady Children’s Hospital Toy Drive
SuperCamp’s academic summer camps are committed to improving the lives of kids and teens, not just during the summer, but year-round.
For over 25 years, SuperCamp’s academic summer camps have worked hard to improve the lives of more than 50,000 kids and teens worldwide. Although every summer camp has an end, SuperCamp’s devotion to children does not. This year to celebrate the holiday season, friends and family of SuperCamp raised over 200 toys, games, and other gifts in three weeks for the “AJ’s Kids Crane” toy drive for Rady Children’s Hospital hosted by San Diego radio station Channel 93.3.
Early Wednesday morning (December 10), eight ladies from the SuperCamp headquarters in Oceanside, California, hauled a minivan packed full of toys down to the IKEA parking lot in San Diego. This is where morning show co-host AJ has been residing in a crane since December 5th and pledges to remain there until they reach their goal of 100,000 toys.
The lively SuperCamp ladies, decked out in matching SuperCampT-shirts and reindeer antlers, delivered the toys and performed their own rendition of Jingle Bells, along with a dance they choreographed specifically for the event.
The performance was a huge success, bringing joy and laughter to the radio crew, who said it had been a cold and quiet morning. After the entertainment was finished and all of the toys were transferred from the van to the toy drive tent - which, as of Wednesday, housed over 38,000 toys - the ladies piled back into their minivan and went happily back to work.
During the winter months SuperCamp is hard at work preparing for the upcoming summer camp season. The full summer 2009 SuperCamp schedule and locations are set and interviews are currently being held for potential SuperCamp staff.
