Courteney Cox still has "strong feelings" for David Arquette.
The 46-year-old actress - who announced last October she and her husband were having a trial separation after 11 years of marriage - has no idea if they will get back together in the future and admits she can't help but feel protective of the 39-year-old actor, who recently underwent a stint in rehab for alcoholism.
She said: "I don't know what the future holds, and I guess, because I still have strong feelings for David ... I'm his biggest protector. I can't help it.
"Most guys aren't mature, are they? ... If you know who David is, you know what his intentions are, how honest he is, and how big his heart is ... You can't really get mad at David because he's not a malicious person."
The 'Cougar Town' actress has no plans to date again yet and admits she wouldn't know where to start.
She told the new issue of America's Harper's Bazaar magazine: "I have no desire right now (to date). I'm not saying never; it just seems weird. I don't even know how that would happen or how you meet people. I don't like to go out. I'm not great at small talk ... I don't like to go to parties.
"There's a sign on my forehead: exiting social life, entering into isolation."
Regardless of what happens between her and David, Courteney says the couple's six-year-old daughter Coco will always be their main concern.
She added: "She's our number one priority. No matter what happens, she'll be OK because she knows that she is completely safe, loved, and we'll protect that more than anything in the world."
