Lakers Beat Magic 97-84

Bynum Proves Crucial to Victory

Even with Kobe Bryant playing on a sprained ankle, the Los Angeles Lakers were able to pull off an impressive victory against the Orlando Magic on Monday. The final score: 97-84. The victory was the Laker's 10th win in their last 11 games.

The Magic actually went into half time with a 5 point lead at 46-41. But the Lakers came back in the second half with a great momentum, outscoring the Magic 30-20 in the third quarter and 26-18 in the fourth.

Lakers big man Pau Gasol led both teams in scoring with 23 points. Magic center Dwight Howard came in at a close second with 22 points; he also contributed an impressive total of 15 rebounds. But Bynum was the real star of the game, recording 10 points, 18 rebounds, and 4 blocks.

"I just think they came out and played better in the second half, especially with their post defense," said Howard, who led his team in all major statistical categories except assists. "They squared everybody in the paint and they forced me to make plays out to my teammates. They made it tough for me to score. We've just got to learn how to play through it."

"We want to win every game on this home stretch here," said Bynum after the victory.
