Indian Navy Arrests 23 Pirates Attempting to Storm Ship

The Indian navy arrested 23 pirates after responding to a distress call from a ship flying under an Ethiopian flag.

The pirates, made up of Somalia and Yemeni gunmen, were attempting to board the MV Gibe when the navy arrived and apprehended the men. The military said they collected seven AK-47 rifles, a rocket-propelled grenade launcher and three machine guns.

According to reports the MV Gibe was traveling through the Gulf of Aden when the pirates attacked. The Gulf of Aden has been the center of numerous acts of piracy over the past year which has sparked a call for more countries to step up their defense against the gunmen.
