The 74th Annual Heisman Trophy Award has been presented to Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Sam Bradford, edging Florida Gators QB Tim Tebow and Texas Longhorns QB Colt McCoy.
Bradford stepped to the stage at the Nokia Theatre Times Square to accept the Heisman Trophy where he thanked his parents, coaches and players for putting him in the position to join the fraternity of college football elite.
Bradford threw for 4464 yards and 48 touchdowns while posting a 186.3 passers rating and leading the Oklahoma Sooners to the Big 12 title and a berth into the BCS national championship game on January 8 in Miami.
The sophomore QB collected 1726 points in the voting, enough to top McCoy who totaled 1604 points and Tebow’s 1575. Texas Tech Red Raiders QB Graham Harrell finished in a distant fourth.
Voting was done by 870 media representatives, 55 living Heisman winners and one overall fan vote.
