Michaele Salahi Faking Addiction on Celebrity Rehab?

How far would you go for fame? Would you fake an addiction in order to get media attention? White House party-crasher Michaele Salahi may have done just that.

In the truth-is-stranger-than-fiction department, White House party-crasher Michaele Salahi has been asked to leave the television show Celebrity Rehab because she does not have an addiction, VH1 said in a statement.

"The treatment program that Celebrity Rehab documents is intended for individuals with serious substance abuse and addiction issues," the VH1 statement continued. The network announced Tuesday, March 8, that it canceled Salahi’s appearance on the show.

Why would someone without a drug addiction issue enter rehab? That remains to be seen, but Salahi's manager was quick to insist the network knew that was the case all along.

Who is Salahi?

Salahi and her husband first made news in November 2009 after attending President Barack Obama's first state dinner without an invitation. The Virginia couple slipped through White House security and shook hands with Obama, and had their pictures taken with Vice President Joe Biden and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Salahi, who has also appeared on Real Housewives of D.C., was reportedly assessed by professionals prior to appearing on Celebrity Rehab and she was not found to the meet the criteria to be treated in that setting.
