A student at Northwestern University finally gains citizenship while serving in Kuwait. Chinonso Nwosu who is originally from Nigeria, came to the Us in 2004 and attended Northwestern University in Chicago under a student visa. Nwou signed up for the National Guard in 2006 and was deployed to Iraq in 2008 and 2009. He was awarded his citizenship this week while he is stationed in Kuwait. Nwosu said he worked very hard to gain citizenship.
The Northwestern University student was allowed an expedited citizenship through an act passed after September 11th that allowed people who served in the military accelerated citizenship.
