A recent report from E! news reveals that American Idol Season 10 finalist Stefano Langone was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence on May 16th, 2010. The revelation comes as a surprise, since the show made a point of highlighting the fact that Langone himself had survived a nearly fatal crash almost two years ago because
he was hit by a drunk driver.
Langone recently told the
Star about when he himself was hit by a drunk driver in May 2009. A head-on collision left the aspiring pop star with a fractured pelvis, two broken arms, various metal plates in his body, and deep scars. Indeed,
Idol made a point of highlighting Langone's near-death experience when he was first introduced on the show.
But Langone failed to mention his ironic run-in with the law. Langone was pulled over by a Washington State Patrol trooper a year ago after he was seen speeding and changing lanes without signaling near a city called Belltown, where Langone had been partying with friends. When tested, Langone's breath registered 0.98 on the Breathalyzer, above the state's 0.8 limit.
Langone ultimately plead guilty to negligent driving and received a suspended 90-day jail sentence, in addition to an $863 fine and a required drug and alcohol abuse course.
Langone was also cited for marijuana possession back in 2008.
