There is a recent development in the Conrad Murray trial regarding the death of pop music legend Michael Jackson. Sources have told TMZ that the defense thinks that a broken syringe from Jackson's bedroom could prove that Jackson actually killed himself.
On Wednesday morning, Murray's lawyers brought the court's attention to a broken syringe that was found under MJ's deathbed. The defense believes that Jackson killed himself by giving himself a massive overdoes of Propofol using that syringe while Murray, his personal physician, was out of the room. According to the defense's argument, there were only two people in the room that day, Jackson and Murray. And since Murray didn't break the syringe, it must have been Michael.
But the question remains. Who handled and broke that syringe? According to sources, Dr. Murray says he did not break the syringe. But the court will not necessarily be expected to rely simply on Murray's testimony. Instead, the defense is asking that the FBI to obtain a first generation fingerprint from the syringe to determine who really handled the syringe.
On February 8th, 2010, Murray was charged with the involuntary manslaughter of Jackson. He pleaded not guilty and was released on $75,000 bail. On January 11th, 2011, a judge determined that Murray should stand trial for involuntary manslaughter. The judge also suspended Murray's license to practice medicine in the state of California.
