Ochocino to Try out for MLS Team

Chad Ochocinco of the Cincinnati Bengals is set to try out for the Sporting Kansas City of the MLS starting on Tuesday. The 33-year-old wide receiver would apparently like to try his luck in another sport.

The MLS club said on Wednesday that, after the tryout, it would determine whether or not to extend the trial period for Ochocinco.

"We're always searching for players who can help our team and bringing in new talent," said Sporting manager Peter Vermes. "We know that Chad is an exceptional athlete and that he loves the sport of soccer, and he did play a lot when he was younger. We're excited to see how his skills will translate once he arrives next week and begins training with our team."

According to a report from the Associated Press, Ochocino started playing soccer when he was four but decided to focus on playing football when he was in high school.

"Due to the NFL lockout, I'm excited to be able to follow my childhood dream of playing for a Major League Soccer team," said Ochocinco.
