Roosters barbershops in Charlotte are for men only. Women have enjoyed their own beauty shop for decades while the traditional American barbershop nearly died.
Larry Bonhaus has come in with a vengeance to bring back the traditional men’s barbershop in Charlotte. Now guys have a place of their own to get a traditional men’s hair cut, shave and shoeshine, or modern grooming services such as a cut and color, mani/pedi or back wax.
Men no longer have to go to their wife’s beauty salon for nail shaping (guy code for manicure and pedicure) cut and color and waxing (where ever they don’t want hair). Clients also get a free beverage (yes, beer is included), complimentary shoe shine and even golf advice!
Roosters resembles an old-time barbershop complete with man-size chairs and the traditional red, white and blue barber pole that is still easily recognizable today. “I’m taking the high road on any cracks about our name,” said Bonhaus.
The fact is, men are grooming more. Though many salons and spas are offering services for men, the atmosphere just isn’t the same. Men are declaring their Mendependence by choosing Roosters Men’s Grooming Center for all their grooming needs.
Since founder, Joe Grondin opened the first Roosters in 1999, the concept has grown quite popular among men and entrepreneurs who are interested in owning a franchise of their own. Larry Bonhaus plans to open more Roosters Barbershop in Ballantyne and other areas around the region.
