Plane Carrying 11 Passengers from Dominican Republic Disappears, Authorities Search Continues

A twin-engine plane believed to have taken off from the Dominican Republic has disappeared and the fate of the 11 people on board remains unknown as authorities continue to search near the Turks and Caicos Islands in the Caribbean.

According to the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute the plane took off from the Dominican Republic on Monday afternoon and was heading to the Turks and Caicos Islands when it disappeared from their radar about 35 minutes later. A second report from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration stated the plane had actually landed in the Turks and Caicos Islands and had taken off for an unknown destination when it disappeared.

The U.S. Coast Guard has been searching an area just west of the Caicos island for wreckage but have not found any evidence.
