NFL Power Rankings Week 16 ESPN: Pittsburgh Steelers Take Top Spot as Tennessee Titans and New York Giants Tumble
The NFL Power Rankings for Week 16 from ESPN have been released and after an huge road win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday the Pittsburgh Steelers have jumped to the #1 spot, vaulting past the Tennessee Titans and New York Giants.
Tennessee was tripped up by the Houston Texans on Sunday and fell to #2 this week while New York was embarrassed by the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night and tumbled to #4 after sitting at #2 last week.
Inching up one spot to #3 in the NFL Power Rankings for Week 16 are the surging Carolina Panthers who are coming off a big win against the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
As luck would have it Week 16 action will have the top four teams facing off as the Steelers hit the road to take on the Titans while the Panthers travel to face the Giants Sunday night.
Seven straight wins has kept the Indianapolis Colts in their #5 spot this week while the Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens follow at #6 and #7. The Cowboys actually leapfrogged the Ravens after knocking off the Giants while the Ravens didn’t move despite losing at home to the Steelers on Sunday.
The debate between Dallas and Baltimore will be settled on Saturday night when the two square off in the final game at Texas Stadium.
Jumping three spots to #8 in the NFL Power Rankings this week are the Atlanta Falcons who edged the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in overtime on Sunday and remain in the playoff chase in the NFC. The Bucs tumbled four spots to #10 this week following that loss.
Wrapping up the Top 10 this week are the New England Patriots who are at #9 and the highest rated AFC East team but if the playoffs were to start today they would be on the outside as the New York Jets would get the nod.
