Channing Tatum: 'Scotland is tough'

Channing Tatum was shocked by the conditions on the set of 'The Eagle'.

The American actor - who plays a young Roman officer in Britain trying to restore his family's honour with the help of his slave - revealed he had no idea filming in the highlands of Scotland would be so difficult and would have thought twice about taking on the role if he had known.

He said: "Yeah, look I don't think, even if they'd told me it's going to be the coldest thing you ever do, I still don't think I would have understood until the second day when I'm soaked through. I don't even know what it would be in Celsius but it was almost freezing, if it wasn't so wet it would have been freezing. Just to be outside, for thirteen hours, you couldn't get trailers in some of the places we were and we'd hike in for 20 or 30 minutes and our director was even carrying cameras and reels out to the set."

Despite the tough conditions, Channing loved working with co-star Jamie Bell and admitted the harsh environment brought them closer.

He explained to BANG Showbiz:"It's a really small knit family, and we went through hell together. That's kind of what mine and Jamie's characters did, we were a lot closer for it."
