Djokovic Beats Nadal at Indian Wells

Serbian Tennis Star Improves to 18-0

On Sunday, 23-year-old Serbian tennis great Novak Djokovic beat top-ranked player Rafael Nadal 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California. Djokvoic, who came into the match with an impressive perfect record in 2011, is now 18-0 this year.

"It definitely says good things. I am playing with a lot of confidence. I'm feeling the ball well on the court," said Djokovic, who won this year's first Grand Slam title by winning the Australian Open in January. "I'm very dedicated. I have a big will to win each match. I want to keep on going and keep on playing good tennis."

On Monday, Djokovic moved up to the number 2 spot in the world, moving Swiss tennis great Roger Federer down to number 3. Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal still holds the number 1 spot.

"I know that the season is very long and I don't want to be too euphoric about the win," said Djokovic, who some predict will become the number 1 ranked player this year. "I need to celebrate a little bit and then move on."

Nadal started off the match strong, breaking Djokvoic twice in the first set. But things started to go downhill for Rafa in the second set, when his serve started to fail him.

"At the end of the first set, I started to serve really bad, and the second set still in the beginning, even if I won the games because he had more mistakes than usual with the second serve return, I play less aggressive," said Nadal. "I was thinking too much about the serve more than the game in that moment, so I stop a little bit the legs. The serve was the difference."
