Spring Equinox Brings Winter to California

by Daun Lee

In an ironic twist of Mother Nature the sunny state of California was hit with snow and cold rain on the spring equinox. Areas of Northern California were hit with upwards of a 19 inches of snow closing highways in the area. While Northern Cali was being inundated with snowy precipitation, parts of Southern California including Los Angles were witness to deluges. The heavy rains necessitated the evacuation of residents in the Southland areas due to flooding.

The storm brought high winds and more than a few inches of rain. The winds brought downed trees onto the streets and vehicles. More than 130,000 people in the greater Los Angeles area lost power. Numerous streets and highways were closed because of flooding. There were no reported fatalities but the California Highway Patrol stated there was an increased in traffic accidents which keep car accident attorneys in the area busy.

Driving in heavy rains can cause reduced visibility which causes more traffic accidents. Those who have lost property of incurred injuries from a traffic collision will need car accident lawyers to recoup those losses. It is advisable in extreme weather conditions to avoid travel, but some people believing they can handle still insist on driving even though they may not be able to avoid hazards, and often cause vehicle crashes. This disregard or carelessness can create danger on the roads and injury to persons or property. When that maverick driver’s negligence causes harm an accident attorney can assure just compensation.
