Michael Lohan allegedly assaulted his on/off lover Kate Major.
The showbiz patriarch - the father of Lindsay Lohan - was arrested on domestic violence charges last night (21.03.11) following an incident at a West Hollywood apartment.
It has now been claimed that Michael's alleged attack was on his ex-fiancee Kate, and the former Star magazine journalist was left with minor injuries.
A source told X17Online: "Kate is in pain right now. She's bruised and sore - not serious enough to really need to go to the hospital, but she's not feeling well at all. And mentally she's a wreck. She loves Michael and doesn't understand why he would hurt her."
Michael had to be taken to Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center by police for treatment for an unrelated medical condition before being taken to the County Sheriff's office.
The alleged attack is now set to signal the end of the pair's turbulent romance - which began in January 2010 - because Kate will not put up with a violent man.
The source added: "Kate loves Michael but she doesn't trust him. These two are up-and-down but this may be the final straw for Kate. I don't think she'll tolerate Michael getting physical with her. It's over between these two; they have no future together."
Last July, Kate accused Michael of attacking her at their home in Southampton, New York, claiming he threw her off a chair and kicked her in the face during an argument.
