The Casey Anthony case may take a dramatic turn by Thursday as investigators continue to gather evidence from a wooded area that many believe to be the site where the body of Caylee Anthony was dumped.
There was talk that information would be released on Wednesday but investigators have since said they continue to gather evidence from the spot and until they have concluded their search they will refrain from making any announcement.
Evidence gathered thus far has indicated that the skull and bones found last week were indeed those of Caylee Anthony. Caylee Anthony disappeared in June, just shy of her third birthday and investigators quickly turned to her mother, 23-year-old Casey Anthony, as the main suspect.
Casey Anthony has denied any involvement in her daughter’s disappearance and has repeatedly told investigators that she dropped Caylee off with a babysitter and when she returned both were gone. That story was discredited by investigators who questioned her decision to wait more than a month before reporting the disappearance.
Authorities searched the vehicle driven by Casey Anthony and found evidence of human decomposition in the trunk of the vehicle as well as hair from Caylee and chloroform. Casey has been behind bars at the Orange County Jail in Orlando, Florida and is charged with first-degree murder. She has a March trial date set.
Investigators have said the earliest they could release any information about the crime scene would be Thursday afternoon but the search could continue through the weekend.
