Aflac Fires Voice of Duck over Tweets

Further proving the power of social media, the insurance company Aflac fires Gilbert Gottfried over his controversial Tweets. Gottfried has been the voice of the company mascot, a duck, in their many different advertisements. The comic posted a number of jokes that poked fun at the tragedy playing out in Japan. A third of the company’s revenue comes from disability insurance from Japanese residents. The company feels as though the tweets were in bad taste and not representative of the company’s feelings toward the tragedy in Japan.
