Oklahoma running back DeMarco Murray and defensive tackle DeMarcus Granger will not play in the BCS National Championship Game against the Florida Gators, according to OU head coach Bob Stoops.
Murray is out with a hamstring injury and is also scheduled for surgery, while Granger, a key reserve, has already undergone back surgery. Granger missed the Big 12 Championship due to his back.
Granger played in 11 games during the season and recorded 20 tackles and two fumble recoveries.
Murray suffered partial rupture of his left hamstring tendon on the opening kickoff of the Big 12 championship game. He is second on the Sooners team with 1,002 rushing yards (eight fewer than Chris Brown) and is third in the FBS with 2,171 all-purpose yards. Murray has also scored 18 touchdowns this season.
Granger will likely miss spring practice, nursing his back, while Murray will be out at least five months.
