Hall of Fame football player Chuck Bednarik, who played exclusively for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1949 to 1962, is in serious condition and has been hospitalized.
According to reports, the 85-year-old football legend was admitted to a hospital after experiencing shortness of breath. Bednarik's son-in-law told the Philadelphia Daily News that Bednarik is as "feisty as ever" and that he is talking with his family members. Another source said that "he was just tired." A nursing supervisor at the hospital, however, would not provide additional information about Bednarik's condition.
Bednarik is an 8-time Pro Bowl selection, a 10-time All Pro selection, a Pro Bowl MVP, and a member of the NFL's 75th Anniversary All-Time Team. In 1960, he helped the Eagles win the NFL Championship Game. In his 14 NFL seasons, he missed only 3 games. Bednarik's jersey number 60 is one of only seven jerseys numbers that have been retired by the Eagles.
