Amy Adams for Rock of Ages?

Amy Adams is in negotiations to join 'Rock of Ages'.

The flame-haired actress - who won her third Oscar nomination for her part in 2010 movie 'The Fighter' - is being courted by director Adam Shankman for a role in the musical movie, opposite Tom Cruise.

According to Deadline.com, Amy is line to play the character originally intended to be given to Anne Hathaway before she signed on to The Dark Knight Rises as Catwoman.

However, the journalist role has been re-written for Amy, with her set to play an uptight investigator intent on exposing Tom's rock star character Stacee Jax.

A number of big named stars have already signed up for parts in the movie including Mary J. Blige, Russell Brand and Alec Baldwin, with 'Dancing with the Stars' professional Julianne Hough playing the lead female.

If Amy joins 'Rock of Ages' it will not be her only musical movie in the pipeline - as well as a continuing plan to work on a Janis Joplin biopic, she is also set to star in the forthcoming 'Muppets' movie.
