Man's lucky bird droppings

A man won a huge cash prize after being hit on the head by bird droppings in New Zealand.

The unnamed man hit the $74,000 jackpot after buying a scratch-card because pals told him being hit by bird faeces is considered good luck.

Although he was sceptical he gambled on the card and was amazed to see he'd won so much money.

He said: "I thought it was a load of rubbish, but when I was in a Lotto shop I had $4 left in my wallet so thought I would buy a scratchie and test my luck.

"I could not believe it when I scratched the right numbers and realised I had won $74,000. It is such a great feeling. I plan to start a new life with this win."
