Oxford English Dictionary Adds LOL and OMG

The Oxford English dictionary plans to add the oft used LOL and OMG to their 2011 edition of the dictionary. They plan to preserve the acronyms for etymological posterity. Most of the people who employ mobile technology and social internet forums are well versed in the meanings of LOL and OMG to express and punctuate our technological communications. Saving these uniquely tech age phrases is important in demonstrating the impact words these ‘words’ have on our continually evolving cultures. Technology has had an enormous impact on the world we live in and the way people communicated ideas with each other. 

Our use of technology has evolved to such a degree that it is unthinkable to not have internet access and computing devices with us always. The development of smart phones and tablets attest to our increasing dependence on the internet for basic information, marketing and SEO optimization. In the information age it is crucial to have a presence on the internet both for businesses and individuals. A business can get a better presence with SEO optimization; OMG it’s so important.

People often keep in touch with each other via their preferred social media whether it is Twitter or Facebook, there is a host of other social media but these are the giants.
