NFL Week 16: Dallas Cowboys Face Baltimore Ravens with Huge Playoff Implications

Week 16 in the NFL certainly has its matchups but Saturday night’s showdown between the Dallas Cowboys (9-5) and Baltimore Ravens (9-5) will almost certainly result in one club earning a playoff berth while the other contemplates things to do in the offseason.

This will be the Cowboys final game at Texas Stadium where they have posted a 6-1 mark this year while the Ravens are 4-3 on the road, those three losses were to Pittsburgh, Indianapolis and Tennessee (all three playoff teams).

Baltimore had won three in a row before falling to the Steelers at home last week on a controversial touchdown at the end of the game. Once again the Ravens defense has led the way, ranked second in the NFL, allowing just 15.2 points per game but the Cowboys defense has flown under the radar despite the presence of DeMarcus Ware who leads the NFL with 19 sacks and could pose all kinds of trouble for Joe Flaco on Saturday.

It will almost undoubtedly come down to defense and the Cowboys will likely be without Marion Barber which will leave Tashard Choice as the lead back and Tony Romo needing to win the game with his arm. That will be no easy task against the NFL’s #2 passing defense.

While both teams are considered among the NFL’s elite a loss on Saturday will put them on the outside looking in when it comes to the playoffs. A Dallas loss would open the door for the Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles while a Baltimore loss would put the Ravens behind the New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins.

Kickoff for Saturday night’s game is set for 8:15 p.m. ET.
